I was at Berkeley last Saturday for a whole day International Health Conference on War, Poverty and Population. Fun, no? Funnier is the fact that the thinking heads are talking about population control again. I remember writing and drawing about in grade school 20 something years ago. Apparently, the world is getting too small or we are all getting too many and fat. Anyway, I was thinking of Philippines and its 80 million or so people and the lack of definitive population control. I remember reading a komiks about vasectomy in 4th grade and how I thought that was kind of porn reading - he, he, he.
Anyway, loved Berkeley with its old buildings and very downtown, old world academia feel. Everyone was in the campus - joggers, lovers, nudists, bums, dopers, scholars, mentally ill, tourists and yeah some students - on a Saturday no less. I bailed out of the conference an hour early - I was starting to feel catatonic from listening to all the intellectual yappings- and I thought of walking around downtown but the crowd on the streets were kind of suspect, so I only managed to grab a greasy ham and cheese croissant and coffee from a cafe next to the parking structure and imagined I was dashing out of some Oxford watering hole.
