Here Comes the Sun
Nothing is more hopeful than a morning full of sunshine. I had to make bread pudding with bananas and raisins to celebrate all that sunny-ness. And while listening to Pandora, all this morning-sunshiny songs were streaming in too. I could do no less than share this bright-eyed and bushy-tailed top-of-the-morning holler to you all. Enjoy your Saturday and and if you feel like up to it, go on and plant something that smiles in the spring that is so around the corner - except it is a frosty 50'ish outside right now, so maybe wait till noon.

Some Nights.
Like L.L. Cool J - my Grammy moments started with MJ and pretty much ended with him too. I really haven't watched-watched the Grammy's since the 90's - until this year's Grammy's. This one was actually watchable - except maybe for Taylor's self-indulgent circus act. The group Fun. was exceptionally memorable for me - not so much the rain stuff - but the the front man's voice was quite moving. I loved that the show was actually about music and talent (no Niki Minaj, no Gaga, no Pink humping a trapeze).
Thanks to my slacking ways, many must-talk-about other events passed this blog by unwritten about. The biggest was the Superbowl of course. Everyone knew what happened so I am not going to talk about that last 5 yards. What I do want to talk about or gawk at are Kap's tattoos. I mean, the guy is coveredI I think he lets his tattoos do all the talking because he hardly does - and you know what, he doesn't look bad inspite of. The picture of him just staring down the camera while getting his tats done is so sexy for the lack of other words I can think of. And the best part? His body is adorned by two boss Filipino tattoo artists!
And speaking of boss, the Pope resigned - can he even do that? I find that strangely admirable - to let go of all that power because you don't feel it anymore - what courage and how practical! I salute you Pope.
And finally, Lent is here. Today is Ash Wednesday. I went to ran and did not go to Church (sorry, Pope), but I did decide to give up meat for the season. To start off the promise, I made green beans and tofu ala my mother's way. The picture below is not mine but it awfully looked like my dish.
And one more thing - yesterday the President delivered his State of the Union address. I was so tired that I slept through it and woke up just so to see what the Mrs. O was wearing next to the Filipino nurse hero Menchu. And then - being so over it already - I ignored all the nitpicking and head-talking after that. I did find the time to see how the dress looked like in Jason Wu's mind.

A Post From Last Saturday

Once in a while, a day would happen when I actually do the things I said I would do. Today is such a day - joyfully! So I started with a ran I haven't had in a longgggg while - felt like I hit the restart button somewhere. Hopefully this is the start of a dare I say it? - routine? Then I went on a cleaning mode to the dismay of the entire family who ended up cleaning too by default. Then in between whipping up bread pudding ala Tartine style - I finally plunged into the home-office project and moved things around. I don't know why there are such heavy things in that room. We moved stuff in and out of the room and up and down the stairs - and still we are not done, but the place is starting to look like it too had a run this morning.
I was supposed to post this last Saturday, but Monday got in the way. The good news though: I ran 3 more times since that morning and I had been to the gym for the last 3 days too. They say it takes 14 days to start a habit: here's good luck to 10 more days! P.S. the office had seen real use too. I am virtually unstoppable!
