Random Foodie

Coffee at a friend's house, note the gold spoons.

Love those starchy boba - chocolate and lychee. Yum!
Homemade chocolate chip cookies - semi specialty.
Like water,like coffee!

Thought I'd blog about random food because that's the most consistent activity, I have been doing lately - eating that is. I am contemplating about cutting back on coffee but I get headaches just thinking about it. Last time I tried, I was down for 6 hours- Mel had to force feed me to get me back. I read an article about cortisol level and how one gets all screwed up - appetite goes crazy, sleeping patterns whacked out, and weight fluctuates to the right (read:bad side) - when this chemical acts up. I think that mine is doing a number on me. I am forcing myself to sleep earlier but my body and mind and soul refuses to until it is practically the next day - as in after midnight.

This had been my go-to food lately.

whah!

my son is having a Harry Potter phase right now.love this movie - although i didn't like Anne Hatharway. loved Emily Blunt in it.

My hubby's been out of the country since Wednesday last week. The kids and I are terribly missing him. So far, the following things have happened: the wireless computer mouse stopped working at the store; our new patio table broke into million little pieces last windy Saturday; and finally, I splashed coffee on this very computer and it nearly died! So yeah, things are falling apart. We need the man of the house - boo, hoo, hoo, hoo! We also went to Hollywood Video to rent Devil Wears Prada and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the video lady told us that only Mel's name on the account and she wasn't about to let us borrow but changed her mind because the 3 of us looked pathetically sad!!!

Chinese Night Out

It was Friday. Niko was out on a sleep-over.
Did not feel like cooking for 3. Went out instead. Most of the
places were closed at 9:30 (small town for you!). Nathan's was still
open but the line was 30 minutes long. We waited. We were seated after 2o minutes.
Alaia bonded with some of enslaved crustaceans.
The wonton soup - it was alright.
I ordered the wrong dish again. The fish came
covered in fried dough and the peppers
outnumbered the shrimp 1 to 50 in the Shrimp
in Lobster Sauce.

But these two are still happy. I will order the dinner for 3 special next time - it has the right fish.

The Making of a Cassava Cake

I start with a really simple recipe. Then, I buy everything in can.
I use my fave red mixing bowl and mix everything.
This one is a new recipe - I did not anticipate some of the butter bubbling up.
But in the end, it turns out good.
The end.

old bookish

My All-Time best romance book ever! I used to devour these books in the '80's.
Even these ones - especially loved those with very arrogant Aussie outbackers who grudgingly fall in love with beguiling but wily brunettes from the States!
Remembering old times.
